Metropolis Underground is a performance space established to present live works of free jazz, experimental and indie music in an intimate and casual space. MU has room for up to 40 people with theater seating for 24. MU works on donations with most of the profits going to the bands. Over the past two years MU has hosted shows by Sabir Mateen, Tony Malaby & Tone Collector, Taylor Ho Bynum Trio, Yuganaut Trio, Killick, Geoff Farina/Chris Brokaw, Chris Corsano/Paul Flaherty, Tatsuya Nakatani, MoHa, Bill Cole/Warren Smith, Charlemagne, The Human, Beauty Scene Outlaws, and Atlantic Drone. MU also features independent film, photography, art , spoken word and other subversive and entertaining events.
